The outdoors has the potential to transform a person in many ways. By constantly throwing up new challenges, the outdoors provide an enriching experience. It encourages initiatives, rewards innovation and enhances self-belief. From confidence building to personality development; from decision making to leadership skills, from learning to laugh at oneself to empathising with others, all this happens here. And we haven't said anything about the memorable friends one makes!
Set miles from the thronging crowds amidst breathtaking off-the-beaten-path locales, our Himalayan Eco Lodges and Camps are ideal bases for such programs. Here, nestled in the lap of nature with all her glory, we introduce our participants to activity-based programs that give equal emphasis to fun and learning. Designed to stimulate and excite, each activity fires the children's imagination as they face up to and overcome each challenge. In addition to programs as the experience is tangible, meaningful and capable of extending beyond the span of the program.
Our wide range of activities ensures that the children are occupied during the time of stay with us. These activities include a number of adventure activities like rafting (10+ years), rappelling, rock climbing, trekking, valley crossing, bridge slithering, cliff jumping, body surfing, kayaking etc. and a number of non-adventure activities like village visits, sessions on ropes & knots, outdoor survival, bonfire games, beach volleyball, bird watching etc. These activities in addition to being fun and exciting also provide a platform for children to interact and learn a number of things beyond what they are exposed to in their school.
Safety always comes first at Beyond The Limit and we continue to have an excellent safety record. Our focus is on safety, followed by learning and fun. While we are proud of our record, we never let ourselves get complacent. As people who enjoy the great bounty that nature has bestowed upon us, Team- Beyond The Limit takes its individual and collective responsibility very seriously. Our first commitment is to the physical, psychological, and emotional safety of every participant, and staff member, and ourselves. We leave no stone unturned to provide a safe experience and create an environment where people feel free to stretch their limits.
Team Beyond The Limit
The linchpin of any safety program is the people who guide the program. All the Beyond The Limit’s members guiding the program are certified professionals from institutions like Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (Uttarkashi) and have the best credentials in their field. They are individuals of the highest caliber who have proven themselves over time and again. We run a low 1:6 staff to participant ratio. This means that participants always have access to and are supervised by an adult leader. It also ensures individualised attention for the participants. Further, at every point at least 2 members from Team Beyond The Limit go through all the safety aspects of the activities to ensure foolproof safety for all participants. All the Guides/ Instructors at team GIO are trained in First aid and CPR to address any eventuality. Every member of Team GIO carries basic safety kits and First aid boxes at all times. This includes all our camps and off site locations. While Trekking or Alpine Camping, the expedition leaders always carry a powerful, two-way radio with which emergency procedures may be initiated.
Each one of these aspects is addressed individually to put together a comprehensive safety program.
Safety At The Camp
All Beyond the Limit properties are located keeping safety as the primary objective. The camps are away from the main roads, the threat of wildlife is non-existent and the participants are under constant supervision of the camp staff.
- There is a boundary wall made of ropes to prevent any outside intrusion
- Doctor on call to attend any emergency
- There is a camp vehicle and a driver present round the clock for any kind of emergency evacuation
Safety while travelling
We design our programs in such a way that majority of the distance is covered by train. In the eventuality that this is not possible we use transporters who comply with the following criterion:
- Vehicles should not be more than 6 years old
- Driver should possess a license for driving in the hills and should have an experience of more than 4 years
- Company should have previous experience in dealing with groups of this nature
- At least one Beyond The Limit escort will travel with each batch
- We set the speed limits for driving in the plains at 60 kmph and in the mountains at 40 kmph
- We ensure that the vehicle has no lacuna in its documentation
